Having integrated and flown 4 electric airplanes, the Swiss start-up has been selected by Pratt & Whitney Canada to provide the battery pack for its regional hybrid-electric flight demonstrator. About the role
In the frame of its product development (Electric Propulsion System and Modular Battery Pack), H55 is searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on the electric motor.
You will be responsible for:
As a E-Motor Mechanical Design Engineer at H55, your primary mission is to craft cutting-edge products integral to our electric propulsion system.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensure designs are meeting lightweight, manufacturing-optimized, and cost-efficient objectives.
- Secure designs to adhere to regulatory agency rules of EASA and FAA, with a strong focus on industry safety and performance standards.
- Review drawings, schematics, bills of material, and other documentation necessary to manufacture, test, install, and commission products.
- Define tests to guarantee technology de-risking & validation.
- Monitor and manage problem reports and change requests.
- Provide essential support to product production by analyzing deviation requests among other.
- Support supplier by addressing technical questions under general design guidelines.
Your Profile
- A university degree with 5-10 years of experience in designing and validating rotating mechanical components and assemblies (Bearing assembly, shaft design, etc.).
- Experience in mechanical design of Electric Motor, and especially with permanent magnet machines, is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with EASA Certification Specification and industry standards (e.g., DO-160) is an advantage but not a must (experience in another highly regulated field is fine).
- Proficiency in CAD programs like Autodesk Inventor.
- Proven experience in FEA is appreciated, with mastering Ansys bundle as an asset.
- Knowledge in manufacturing processes with a focus on machining and plastic molding.
- Hands-on experience in prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.
- A motivated self-starter with a keen eye for organization and precision.
- A strong commitment to quality.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English; proficiency in French is a valuable asset.
