Having integrated and flown 4 electric airplanes, the Swiss start-up has been selected by Pratt & Whitney Canada to provide the battery pack for its regional hybrid-electric flight demonstrator. This recent announcement is a further illustration of H55’s position as a major enabler in the electric commuter market.

About the role

In the frame of its product development (Electric Propulsion System and Modular Battery Pack), H55 is searching for a Model Based Control Engineer.

You will report to the Software Team Leader.

You will be responsible for:

  • Participate in the definition of the H55 Electric aircraft Motor Controller,
  • Creating model-based software architecture suitable to meet DO178 / DO331 certification objectives 
  • Establishing a model-based software architecture that facilitates analysis such as WCET and code coverage at the embedded software level
  • Developing simulation environment includes system plant model which is useful controller validation and verification
  • Participate in simulation and test procedures to verify the functionality, safety, and compliance of the model-based software MIL, HIL and test rig environment
  • Simulate and test model-based software according to simulation and test procedures and collect results.
  • Prepare simulation cases and test result report suitable for requirement validation and verification
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of model-based software, ensuring they meet specified performance and safety standards.
  • Preparing technical reports and presentations to increase company technical knowledge and experience.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in model-based software certification and propose innovative solutions to enhance our products.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in System Dynamics and Control, Aircraft, Space, Electrical and Electronics engineering, or related field
  • Experience in controller design, simulation, testing, and debugging using Matlab Simulink products. 
  • Knowledge of system dynamics and control theory 
  • Ability to express design with requirements
  • Experience using Simulink Verification, Validation, and Test products
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Fluet English, French is a plus, but not mandatory 

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge about DO-331, DO-178, ARP-4754 and ARP-4761 standards or guidelines to be able to interpret the safety impact of the software at the system level
  • Familiarity with the DO-Qualification kit and related toolboxes of Matlab-Simulink
