Senior Specialist Capacity & Congestion Management (80-100%) in Aarau

Participate in the power supply in Switzerland

In this exciting and challenging role, you will be part of an international team whose main task is to develop congestion management. This involves ensuring stable grid operations – whilst at the same time optimising our grid infrastructure for the national and international power market. Today – and in the future!

You will play a central role in guaranteeing the future supply of electricity in Switzerland. You will be involved in an international project to determine Switzerland’s future electricity import and export possibilities. You will represent the project for Swissgrid from day one: from the international design and negotiation phase right through to implementation. You will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Managing and contributing to internal development and implementation projects, and taking responsibility for the design of the relevant concepts
  • Representing Swissgrid’s interests in international working groups and committees
  • Ensuring internal strategic coordination and the transfer of information to senior management and national authorities
  • Liaising – as part of a development department – between development, the operational teams and IT
  • Coordinating the drafting of cooperation agreements, service level agreements and contractual regulations

This is how you make the difference

For this position, we are looking for a highly motivated and structured individual with an outstanding track record of success and solid experience. Ideally, we require someone with an excellent analytical mindset, a constant drive to work independently on new topics, and the ability to manoeuvre successfully in a complex political and technical international environment. You are a team player and show great commitment and dedication. You must also have the following:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent educational background in a scientific, economic or engineering field
  • Several years of professional experience in the area of electrical energy systems, the energy industry or in the transmission system operator environment
  • Experience in the management and coordination of interdisciplinary projects
  • A strong understanding of Switzerland’s role in the European energy system and the international European power market
  • Knowledge of load flow-based grid studies would be an advantage
  • Excellent MS Office user skills, especially regarding the presentation and transfer of information
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills are a must

What you can expect

We give you the opportunity to carry out varied and exciting tasks within a company that is unique in Switzerland. In addition, you can take advantage of the following benefits:

  • Flexible working hours (42 hours per week) including the possibility to work from home (up to 50%)
  • 25–30 days of annual leave, as well as company holiday between Christmas and New Year
  • A state-of-the-art work environment in the immediate vicinity of Aarau railway station
  • Progressive social benefits and an attractive pension scheme
  • Financial support and/or time off for internal or external training courses
