Head of Custodian Bank Services

Our client is one of the world's leading financial institutions, specialising asset servicing solutions and asset management to both institutional and personal clients. Being one of the oldest financial institutions, the firm currently employs over 18K people across offices in more than 20 countries worldwide. The firm is on the growth path in Switzerland and in 2020 will start will expand to introducing custodian bank services for Swiss investment fund.
Your Responsibilities and Challenges

  • Overall management of the day to day Custodian Bank Services function in Switzerland in accordance with Depositary best practice
  • Ensuring all Custodian Bank obligations are successfully adhered to through establishing and monitoring applicable procedures and controls
  • Providing client support on a day to day and strategic (change) level, ensuring high quality and accurate service levels
  • Working with senior management to determine the strategy for Custodian Bank Services in Switzerland and support the overall effort in EMEA
  • Overseeing the due diligence and on-site inspections of relevant third parties. This will require operating independently of other company’s group entities
  • Leading, supervising and developing local client service team
  • Managing on-going liaison with the pan-European Depositary Operations function
  • Monitoring the regulatory environment and assessing business impact. Represent the firm at relevant industry and regulatory forums
  • Custody oversight according to FINMA requirements including securities processing, Settlement, income, corporate action, proxy voting, Control of correspondent banks, securities lending and investment management activity, cash movement
  • Local client relationship manager

Your Profile

  • Masters’ degree in Finance, law or relevant subject is preferred
  • Several years in a similar function in a custodian bank, securities industry or investment management firm that offers the full fund administration suite of services
  • Leadership and oversight experience
  • Thorough knowledge of Custodian Bank and fund administration duties and responsibilities
  • Thorough knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to the fund and depositary banking industry, preferably including Switzerland
  • Good understanding of the Swiss and broader EMEA fund vehicles and structures
  • Familiar with types of portfolio investment strategies
  • Highly effective communication and relationship management skills
  • Fluent written and spoken in both English and German language
  • Team player and good cultural fit
  • Good command of MS Office tools
