Your mission

We are offering an internship position (80-100% - on-site) as Biosensing Device Test Intern in the Biophotonic department. This job opportunity aims at supporting the testing of a bioassay platform that uses advanced spectral techniques to monitor biomarkers in bodily fluids and tissues
During the internship, you will develop a strong understanding of the current biosensing platform architecture and its requirements. Your primary role will be to support the operation of the device and conduct tests to extract important bioassay figures-of-merit. 

Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in setting up and preparing the experimental apparatus, ensuring proper calibration and handling of samples.
  • Collecting and organizing data from optical spectroscopy measurements and performing basic analysis of the acquired data.
  • Conducting quality control checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the measurements. You will also troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise and contribute to process improvements.
  • Collaborating with R&D teams, actively participating in discussions, and contributing to the preparation of reports and internal scientific dissemination of the findings.

By fulfilling these responsibilities, you will gain practical experience in biosensing, develop valuable laboratory skills, and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge.

Your profile

  • B.Sc. in physical chemistry, biomedical engineering, optics & photonics or related disciplines, or relevant experience in spectroscopy
  • Hands-on experience with biomedical device testing
  • Experience with data management and analysis system is a plus
  • Ability to work side-by-side with Spiden technologists and scientists
  • High level of motivation and the ability to push new ideas forward when faced with roadblocks 
  • Work on-site at Spiden’s office in the Zurich area
